IQ Materials Inc. and Telus New Venture Competition

Ernest Daddey is an award-winning, innovative product development materials scientist. His extensive experience as a research chemist and polymer technologist, his business acumen, and entrepreneurial personality generated a very original idea with a great market potential, an RFID technology based on pigment. Good ideas, however, are like rough diamonds. Their values are greatly determined by the treatment they receive, particularly cutting and polishing.

It takes craftsmanship, technique, time, and effort to produce a valuable diamond. Similarly, ideas go through a delicate process of cutting, refining, and polishing, before they hit the market as new product, process, or business model. As follows, we briefly describe how Telus New Venture Competition helped IQ Materials to turn a promising idea into a marketable technology with a huge growth potential.

The in-depth seminars from April to July 2006 organized by the Telus New Ventures, helped IQ Materials team to brush-up important concepts, methodologies, and essential lingo to the venture business world. In brief, seminars enhanced IQ Materials capability to incorporate a market-driven perspective into the already excellent technology-driven perspective. Meeting with mentors, mostly experts and innovators themselves, helped to refine and shape the idea in terms of a feasible business plan to attract financing.

IQMaterials was one of the top 10 finalist in the competition. IQ Materials is ready to meet the right the investor and revolutionalize security identification industry and make a significant impact in the market.
